Shanti Ulfsbjorninn
Shanti Ulfsbjorninn is an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada). Their research focuses largely on the nature of the phonological module, its universal components, and the implications its representations have on our understanding of the linguistic derivation. This involves pursuing a modular account of morpho-phonological phenomena at one end (allomorphy, item-specific phonology), and the mapping to phonetics at the other. In addition to
Romance, they prioritize working on isolates and lesser-studied languages: Basque, Ik and Fur. They have recently moved towards
fieldwork and the study of Canadian Indigenous languages including Innu-Aimûn and Sallirmiutun.
