is a Ph.D. candidate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Stony Brook University. She has M.A. degrees in Visual Arts, Gender Studies, and Cultural Analysis and Theory. Her research interests include representations of sexualities in film and popular culture, body politics, porn studies, psychoanalysis, affect theory, abjection, performance studies, disability, and sickness narratives. She is currently working on her dissertation entitled ‘Erotic Visuality and Popular Culture in a Conservative Society: 1970s Turkish Erotic Melodramas and the Muslim Sexual Imagination’.
