Elise Newman

Elise Newman is a postdoc in linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. She works primarily on syntax and semantics, with additional interests in first language acquisition. She finished her PhD at MIT in 2021, and is currently collaborating with researchers from Edinburgh, Göttingen, and ZAS on a project about syntactic locality effects relating to arguments vs. adjuncts.

Outside of being a linguist, she enjoys soccer, ceramics, and hiking/cycling.
