What does it mean to write or to make in the presence of other languages, opinions, histories? This workshop has been inspired by the art and writings of Édouard Glissant, Don Mee Choi, Jeffrey Gibson, Sawako Nakayasu, and Stephanie Syjuco. We will look at the work of these artists and tap into our own understandings of creating in awareness of the open, connective force of the world. We will write, draw, and make, getting closer to how we are, and exploring the narratives and voices that have shaped us.
