
Nerea Madariaga
She holds degrees in Classical and Basque Philology from the University of the Basque Country, where she also earned her PhD in Linguistics in 2009. She conducted pre-doctoral research at Charles University in Prague and Moscow State University. Since 2003, she has been part of the University of the Basque Country, first as an Assistant Professor and now as Associate Professor in Slavic Philology. She teaches Russian language at the undergraduate level, and historical linguistics and linguistic typology at the Master’s level. Her research focuses on linguistic change in morphosyntax, particularly Old and Modern Russian, connecting to Indo-European. She has published 37 papers and chapters, co-edited three volumes, delivered 10 invited talks, and presented at 36 international conferences. She has completed research stays in Moscow, Odessa, and Cambridge. Currently, she is a co-PI on a Spanish Ministry-funded research project on linguistic typology.
