Lölja Nordic is a eco feminist, anti-war activist and artist from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Co-coorditator of the Feminist Anti-war Resistance movement. Participant of the 8-th Initiative group (8IG – community of feminist activists of Saint Petersburg). Co-coorganizer of the annual International charity festival “Ne Vinovata” (“Not Her fault”) in support of domestic violence survivors. Volunteer of the organization “Friends of Mariupol” which provides humanitarian help and assistance to Ukrainian refugees. As an activist, Lölja collaborates with many NGO’s that advocate for the rights of marginalized social groups (women, LGBTQ+, political prisoners, refugees and migrants). In her activist and artistic work Lölja explores the subjects of social and environmental justice, ethics, safer and more inclusive spaces for vulnerable social groups, horizontal approach to building grassroots political resistance and communities. As a multidisciplinary contemporary artist she works with photography, video, performance, drawing and text. Her articles and columns about culture and society have been published at Forbes Women, Colta, The Blueprint, Vogue, Wonderzine, The Calvert Journal, Сеанс, Афиша Daily etc. In March 2022, Lölja had to relocate from Russian to Estonia due to the series of arrests and escalating political repressions against her. Now she is currently studying in Austria.
