Giovanni Picker
Giovanni Picker is a sociologist and an urbanist, and Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Glasgow. His work looks at the relations between race, colonialism and cities. His empirical focus is on Europe, and theoretically he feels at home with Race Critical Theories, Global and Historical Sociology, and ethnographic theories. His first monograph was entitled Racial Cities: Governance and the Segregation of Romani People in Urban Europe (Routledge 2017), and he is currently working on a second one entitled Planning White Europe, on urban planning and whiteness.
