Kirby Conrod
Kirby Conrod is an Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Swarthmore College. They earned their PhD in Linguistics from the University of Washington where they wrote their dissertation, Pronouns Raising and Emerging, on the syntax and sociolinguistics of singular they. Their research interests include syntax within the framework of the Minimalist Program, and variationist sociolinguistics, incluing synchronic and diachronic variation in third-person pronouns, and the interactions between pronouns and social identity. Dr. Conrod’s current research focuses on non-binary and transgender linguistics, particularly as it pertains to pronouns and morphosyntactic marking.
