Reading for Re-enchantment and Resistance:
"Reading for Re-enchantment and Resistance” (or, simply, RRR) will meet every other week, and we’ll be reading one book a month. Our readings will dovetail with our preoccupations with borders (which are increasingly taking their toll on all of us). These preoccupations have resulted in beautiful and amazing evidence of “written resistance” over the past few years, in the “Writing against Borders” working group. Now we will take things a step further, and more actively and systematically inform ourselves, by reading together some of the texts in our library (NYI Academic Materials). We will focus, as well, on the incredible (and very urgent) books that our own NYI faculty have written—why shouldn’t we be their first and best readers?! (Rhetorical question; we should be! We will!)
