Hanae Utamura (University of Rochester)
Yola Monakhov Stockton (SUNY Buffalo State)
This course will examine intersections in folklore, technology, and social media through the lens of Pierre Bourdieu's notion of social capital. Specifically, we will discuss the contested spaces of digital culture and folkloric practice to examine the role of performance and representation in activating queer, alternative, and decolonize approaches to these spaces.
