Lexical categories like nouns and verbs are based on a categoryless roots. But where does this categorization take place? Traditionally, people thought in the lexicon, but nowadays roots are taken to be categorized in the syntax. In this course, we will discuss these arguments and present different approaches on how roots are categorized in syntax.
