Cult F: Race, Empire, and Cities in the U.S. and Europe
Giovanni Picker (University of Glasgow)
Gregory Lella (Stony Brook University)
In this seminar, we will explore the intersections of race, empire, and urbanization in the U.S. and Europe, with a particular emphasis on segregation and structures of oppression. We will explore how race and identity have shaped the rise of cities, and in turn how urbanization has shaped social constructions of race. No special qualifications are needed for this seminar.
